Sammy was a no show and was replaced by the Knack

This Old Man is correct. This was my first concert, and The Knack opened. I recall there being signs posted outside saying the replacement band was "LA's hottest club band." Also it was said somewhere that Sammy Hagar, since he was a local boy (from Fontana) that he should be a headliner. This was four months before My Sharona was released.

This was on my 17th Birthday! Was so excited to see Boston & Sammy Hagar! Only 1 problem - Sammy Hagar (for whatever reason) did NOT play this gig. In his place was 'The Knack' ('My Sharona'). This crowd was ready for the Red Rocker, not this up-and-coming L.A. band. We were front row (which was G.A. up against a waist high fence/barrier) and were getting pelted by all the crap the crowd behind us was throwing at the band. I kinda felt sorry for them. Boston was great. No Sammy, though.
