On April 4, 1975, the James Cotton Blues Band performed at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. They shared the stage that night with legendary blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter. At this point in his career, the energetic harmonica master James Cotton was touring heavily on the heels of releasing his high-octane album “High Energy” on Buddah Records in May 1975. The James Cotton Band leaned heavily into a high-octane blend of traditional blues and funky, horn-driven southern soul. Featuring legendary guitarist Matt "Guitar" Murphy, the lineup delivered an energetic, modern electric blues sound that defined Cotton's mid-1970s recordings.
