Blending beat, rhythm'n'blues & rock'n'roll and taking them to the edge, they shaped the blueprint of garage rock. With drums sounding like cannons, tough guitar riffs, a wild wailing sax and the inimitable coarse, yet soulful voice of keyboard player & vocalist Gerry Roslie, The Sonics were louder, wilder and more raw than the rest. From 1964 to 66 they pounded out a string of hits: The Witch, Psycho, Cinderella, Shot Down, Strychnine, Have Love Will Travel, Boss Hoss, He's Waitin' building a strong following in the Nothwest of the U.S., but failing too chart nationwide. While most of their contemporaries weren't able to catch up with their raw energy, following generations got inspired, recognising the early flame, that predated punkrock by a decade. The impact they make is heard until the present day, their work has since been covered by a countless number of bands, including Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Hives and The White Stripes, all citing The Sonics as one of their major influences. Since 2007 The Sonics have started again. With Dusty Watson (formerly with Agent Orange, Supersuckers & Dick Dale) taking over on drums and Freddie Dennis on vocals & bass the new line-up is ready to rock the world. In 2011 they released '8', their first output since the 60's, 2014 will see the release of a new full-length album, the recordings with producer by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Black Keys,...) have just been completed.  Alpoh DEATH a cessé d'exister en tant que groupe en 2001, lorsque Chuck Schuldiner est décédé des suites d'un cancer. DEATH TO ALL a été formé par les anciens musiciens du groupe pour rendre hommage à Chuck ainsi qu'à sa musique qui reste la principale influence des groupes de metal extrême actuels. A l'occasion de cette tournée européenne et de ses deux dates (Paris et Colmar) en France, Death To All sera de passage à Colmar le mercredi 20 novembre pour raviver la flamme de ce groupe culte. Le line-up sera composé pour l'occasion de Sean Reinert à la batterie, Paul Masvidal à la guitare, Steve DiGiorgio à la basse et Max Phelps le chanteur de Cynic au chant. Obscura et Darkrise ouvriront la scène à Death lors de cette soirée. Considéré par beaucoup comme le groupe fondateur de la mouvance death metal (comme le nom l'indique), le groupe a rapidement atteint un statut de légende au sein de la scène. La mort de Chuck Schuldiner en 2001 a mis un terme aux sorties d'album du groupe, mais 30 ans après la création du projet, les autres membres du groupe ont décidé de mettre en place une tournée européenne en hommage à la disparition de leur confrère... Le line-up de cette soirée sera composé de Sean Reinert (batterie), Paul Masvidal (guitare), Steve Di Gorgio (basse), et c'est le chanteur de CYNIC Max Phelps qui aura la lourde tâche de remplacer Chuck. Avis aux amateurs de death metal, c'est très probablement la seule opportunité que vous aurez de voir DEATH en concert en Alsace ! OBSCURA DEATH METAL TECHNIQUE / ALLEMAGNE / 21H20 Il aura fallu moins de 10 ans au combo allemand pour devenir l'une des références de la scène death metal technique européenne... Les 2 derniers albums d'OBSCURA, propulsés par Relapse Records, ont été applaudis par la critique, s'attachant même à les placer comme des descendants directs de CYNIC, NECROPHAGIST et... DEATH. Au menu, rafales de riffs, basse fretless et voix death gutturale à souhait, un véritable hommage au style ! DARKRISE BRUTAL DEATH METAL / SUISSE / 20H30 Après 5 albums et des tournées en compagnie de NILE, DEW SCENTED ou MELECHESH, force est de constater que les Suisses de DARKRISE se sont fait un nom sur leur scène. Malgré la proximité géographique (ils sont de Lausanne), DARKRISE se fait rare en Alsace, et c'est avec un réel plaisir que nous les accueillons au Grillen pour présenter leur nouvel opus sorti cette année "Realeyes". Si Laura Pleasants ne manque pas de charme, nul ne contestera la haute teneur en testostérone de la musique de ces équarisseurs originaires de Savannah. Né sur les cendres du collectif punk-bruitiste Damad, Kylesa prend vie en 2001 lorsque la chanteuse se joint aux musiciens pour s’adonner à leurs penchants métalliques et gutturaux. Une flopée d’EP et trois albums studio s’en suivent, dans lesquels le combo brasse avec une force de persuasion digne de la charge d’un panzer déchaîné hardcore, metal, sludge et stoner. Soutenu par une section rythmique de tous les diables (deux batteurs se chargent de propulser la machine), Kylesa vitrifie l’auditeur à coup de guitares pesantes et adipeuses. Dûment approuvée par les cadors avec lesquels elle a partagé l’affiche (Torche, Baroness, High On Fire, Mastodon), la formation participe avec moult arguments au renouveau de la scène heavy rock nord-américaine.  stephenhuerta 03/01/2026, Update: Wow!, what a fuckin’ hot show this was. Two stages, but I only concentrated on the main stage. And there’s a reason for that. Thanks to Román and Juan Tamayo, they reserved me a seat in the VIP Viewing Section. Once I sat down, I didn’t want to move and lose my location, which was excellent, it was everything I expected. I arrived at the venue at 12:30pm, early as usual. It made for a long day though, but it’s cool. All of the bands were on fire, the ones that stole the show were Mephistofeles and Pelican. I must admit, I wasn’t too impressed by Primitive Man, I was expecting something else. Appcalipsis was a good opening band, then came Mephistofeles, from Argentina, making their Mexico debut. I’m so glad I saw that, it’s the band that I wanted to see. What can I say about Pelican, that hasn’t been said already. They were fuckin’ hot. I still liked their San Francisco Fillmore show better, I guess because it was my first time seeing them, and their second Bay Area performance in 11 years, it was their second SF debut, that’s why. As usual, YOB were great, they too made their Mexico debut at this festival. All in all, a great time. I saw Gerardo and Juan and Román, it was great! Doom City Fest Mar 02, 2026

 Shru Maximus A couple of sites list this show on this date as being held at the Beacham Theater in Orlando, but I went and I can picture them in my head playing the Plus Three in Longwood, Florida which was just north of Orlando off Hwy 1792.
