[email protected] This is probably the most memorable of the Stadium concerts I saw in my youth. I was 14 years old at the time. I asked my mother to take some money I had saved from mowing lawns and buy 2 tickets for this show at Davey’s Locker at Antioch Shopping Center. I invited a neighborhood friend. My dad dropped us off and picked us up after the show. While the performances from each artist were just totally awesome….I meaning seeing the Eagles in their prime….indescribable….just hit after hit after hit and the crowd singing along - especially on Hotel California. I recall a Hotel California backdrop and maybe on the speaker columns too. But the most memorable came during the opening act, Dan Fogelberg, who had yet to become the hit making artist we came to love in the late 79’s and early 80’s. In fact, his only hit at the time was “Part of the Plan.” I was likely more familiar with his songwriting and albums than most as my best friend’s older sister was a huge fan and had turned us on to his early work. That brings us to the magical memory from this incredible stadium show. As if coordinated by an astronomical expert, during the closer of his set, “There’s a Place in the World for a Gambler,” in which the final chorus goes, “Let it Shine, Oh Let it Shine,” the crowd joined in singing the catchy melody and the sun majestically began to set and golden beams of sunlight began to shoot through the tunnel openings on the west and northwest corners of the stadium across from where we were seated. It was glorious and magical as if as the crowd sang together the stadium became some kind of Stonehenge. I can’t describe how beautiful it was. I cried….and I was only 14. I still get chills thinking about this incredible musical moment of synchronicity. Linda Ronstadt / Eagles / Dan Fogelberg / Jackson Browne Sep 28, 2021
