Ozzy Osbourne is one of heavy metal's greatest pioneers. In 1968, he co-founded Black Sabbath alongside Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler. He was the lead singer of the band until 1979. In 1980, he released his debut solo album "Blizzard of Ozz." It peaked at number 7 on the UK Official Albums Chart and remained his highest-ranked album until 2020's "Ordinary Man," which reached the third spot. His thirteenth and final album to date "Patient Number 9" (2022) reached number two. In 2006, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath, and in 2015, he received the Ivor Novello Award for Life Achievement. On February 1, 2023, Ozzy Osbourne retired from touring and canceled all of his upcoming European dates due to injuries sustained from a fall in 2019.

Ozzy Osbourne, whose birth name is John Michael Osbourne, is one of the most influential heavy metal musicians in history. Often called the "Prince of Darkness” or just “Ozzy,” the musician began his career in 1967 as the vocalist for Rare Breed. The band broke up after two shows with Ozzy and other bandmates joining Polka Tulk Blues which renamed itself to “Earth” and finally “Black Sabbath” in 1969.
He was dismissed from Black Sabbath in 1979 due to his tardiness, heavy drug and alcohol use, and personal conflicts with other band members, which pushed him to begin what would become a successful multi-decade solo career.
Ozzy is one of the first true heavy metal rockstars in history, inspiring decades of musicians and the creation of dozens of heavy metal sub-genres.
