 John Fakename My first concert aged 14. Didn’t know what to do so turned up super early. Centre barrier for the whole gig. Mike was smiling and looking at me the whole time. They did purple rain. It set me on a journey with live music that is still going in 2026. An incredible show. About 3 weeks after this they played Glastonbury and that was recorded by the BBC. That is said by someone to be the best ever performance at Glastonbury (the old, good one). Check that out as an example of how tight they were. Steve Wickham had just joined and his playing was unbelievable. I think about this gig every couple of days. The Waterboys Jul 30, 2026
