 Christian Wieting PS: Luther Vandross had a severe stroke in 2003. He was not able to receive all the awards he earned for his final album “Dance with my father”. Again Marcus Miller had been the bassist, songwriter & producer for his “big brother” Luther who died because of a heat attack in 2005. 😢 Marcus is currently promoting a “Luther Vandross: Greatest Hits (double LP with a nice kind of booklet). You may watch the commercial on YouTube. Marcus tells a story behind all the songs, which shows how close their friendship was. The way he describes Luther’s legacy goes deeply under the skin.  Christian Wieting After the concert Marcus stood 5m next to me with a beer in his hand and started talking. I remember this moment because he was relaxed and obviously enjoyed the venue. I asked him directly: How is Luther doing?”. He answered with a tear in his eye:”Luther is not doing good”. We just looked at each other and the moment had been kind of frozen. I have to mention that I first heard from Luther Vandross @ Marcus Miller in 1981, when the album “Never too much” had been launched and went through the roofs. During that time he worked with Luther on Aretha Franklin’s album “Jump to it” and was at the beginning of his membership in Miles Davis’ new band. Since 1981 I am a Melomeniac and saw Luther Live 2 times in Frankfurt and Markus at 7 venues. I love their music and the fact of the matter that Marcus was a young bassist and became a songwriter & producer, which explains a lot. I invited 2 buddies with their spouses to attend this venue in France. 🇫🇷 They were completely amazed, as they didn’t know Marcus. 😉 Marcus and I met several times aside concerts and he had always time for a short chat.  Blues-Lover Very talented guitarist. Many guitarists were there to watch Artur. He played a lot original music and some covers. He plays with fiery passion and has a very gentle style as well.
