 Eel Pie completist The City Ramblers were a skiffle outfit who had not come through the ranks of trad jazz, but who were initially a barely proficient trio (after ditching early member John Pilgrim on washboard and pet monkey Saki), often found busking outside Charing Cross station. In 1956 they embarked on a fairly chaotic tour of Germany and Scandinavia with Woody Guthrie-inspired American ‘cowboy singer’, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and cut an EP in Copenhagen, before returning to London, with Elliott electing to stay in Germany. A year later, and they were playing at the Moscow International Youth Festival. The City Ramblers later embarked on a revival, appearing at Herne Hill Music Festival, and continued gigging as City Ramblers Revival, featuring original member Hylda Sims. City Ramblers Aug 05, 2026

 Mixfixer This was Ozzy BEFORE his first album was released, and with Randy Rhoads. Never heard of 'em, but was an instant fan! But the BIG surprise.... was HEART.  IWPCHI Music This was an ass-kicking concert in which Jerry Lee opened for... Fats Domino (see Jerry Lee Lewis listing for the same date)! Jerry Lee played his ass off as always, but Fats Domino and his much larger band with a full, excellent horn section absolutely stole the show, with Fats bumping his piano across the stage & the horns going out into the audience to lead a "second line strut" to "When The Saints Go Marching In" all around the floor section! Jerry Lee joined Fats - if memory serves - for "Jambalaya" as well! One of the greatest musical experiences of my life, hands down! Fats Domino Aug 05, 2026

 IWPCHI Music If memory serves, this show was *not* at "The Metro", it was at the Paradise on Commonwealth Avenue; it was on a hot summer afternoon, and there was almost no one there, maybe 100 people, because all the students in Boston were still on summer break (terrible timing and lousy promotion - probably why SFAIK Iggy never played the Paradise again)! That didn't matter to Iggy - he and the band came out and played their asses off as if the place was packed, which blew me away - the dedicated professionalism of real musicians (first time in my young concert-going life I had seen that occur)! On top of that, the lineup included Gary Valentine and Clem Burke of Blondie - and I think also other members of the Blondie band, possibly Frank Infante and Jimmy Destri were in the band that day. All in all, still one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen, & it inspired me to go out & buy Iggy's excellent "Party" album, which is IMO one of the best rock albums of the 1980s without question.
