 Fraser Allen After Soul II Soul ended, we had a 30-minute break, and the generous residents of Knebworth bought me plenty of alcohol after raiding my cabinet. One of the more touching moments came when I spoke to a lady whose child had severe autism, which had worsened during lockdown. She told me how much she appreciated being able to enjoy the music from my designated spot, where her family could feel more comfortable and relaxed. The staff, who had been there throughout the weekend, enjoyed the interaction and continued to turn a blind eye to the friendly invasion of my spot. When Kaiser Chiefs came on stage, Ricky Wilson encouraged everyone to honk their car horns between songs. As this was part of their Duck tour, they performed tracks from their latest album alongside all of their biggest hits. Although the band were clearly delighted to be performing again, there was also a sense of frustration at the restrictions that limited what people could do. Nevertheless, there was a feeling of normality in the air that evening, something many of us had not experienced for a long time. After the concert, the lady who lived in Knebworth Gardens invited me back to her residence. All 14 of us gathered outside for an after-show party, where we reflected on the previous six months and shared our experiences of lockdown. Eventually, in the early hours of the morning, I walked back to the Novotel Hotel, happy and looking forward to the next day. It was also a reminder of just how much children had suffered during the lockdown, and how important events like these were in bringing people together again. Kaiser Chiefs Sep 18, 2026
 Fraser Allen After watching Sawbridgeworth play in an FA Cup qualifying round match, it was a welcome, albeit short-lived, return to live music. Earlier gigs that summer had been cancelled, and I was convinced the government would eventually put a stop to this one as well. Thankfully, Tom Kerridge and Knebworth House showed some courage and made the event happen. By this point, the Rule of Six had been introduced, and the venue operated with allocated car spaces to ensure social distancing. Fortunately for me, I was staying at the Novotel for the entire weekend, so I was able to walk to my designated spot rather than drive. Before the show, attendees could pre-order drinks. In a fortunate mistake, my order was doubled, which was very gratefully received. My allocated space was right at the front, with plenty of room for some enthusiastic dad dancing. However, once Soul II Soul took to the stage, my area was invaded by a group of around twelve residents from Knebworth House. They explained that they lived on the estate and were delighted that both Soul II Soul and the Kaiser Chiefs were performing. Thankfully, the organisers and excellent staff took a relaxed view of the situation, and the additional attendees probably generated a little more revenue for the event. Soul II Soul's line-up was essentially Jazzie B accompanied by two backing singers, but they certainly did not disappoint. Their performance transported the crowd back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, with plenty of audience participation and even some concertgoers sounding their car horns in appreciation. It was a much-needed return to live music during a difficult year. One comment from the two backing singers particularly stood out, as they spoke about how performers had received little support from the government throughout the pandemic. Despite the restrictions and uncertainty, the event proved that live music could still bring people together and create a memorable atmosphere. Soul II Soul Sep 18, 2026
 Robert Zolty As a guitarist myself and new fan of the Incredible Allan Holdsworth I went to see him, now knowing at all who Chick Corea was. After Allan played his set which blew my mind, Chick and the rest of the Electric band came out and blew my mind again. I never will forget the impact that concert had one me. R.I.P Allan and Chick.
