Georges A. Gauthier	Devaney is of the best vocalists I’ve seen in a long time. Stunning dynamics one only expects in a controlled studio setting. He’s also dynamic on stage, infusing the show with energy. Mackay does his thing but Noell excels with her playing and mostly live mixing effects on vocals and such. Adding dimension and breadth. Julian Smith	Hilarious evening. Two songs in, Max Splodge made a joke about the Welsh boxer Johnnie Owen who had passed away a few days earlier. This didn't go down well with the crowd - the venue was small with a low ceiling and the bottles started coming over. Max shouted out for someone to come up and fight him at which point, an enormous lad (won't mention his name) pushed through the crowd and got on the stage. He was pretty much bent over double to fit on there and still towered over Max who ran off back to the dressing room. Two bouncers came on stage and politely asked the lad to leave which he did to cheers. The band looked at one another, did a cover of The Damned's "Love Song" and then Baby Splodge said "fuck this" and threw her mike into the crowd. It came off my collar bone and disappeared - the roadie pulled in an empty cable. The band stood there for a moment and just gave up. A typical night in The Troubadour! stephenhuerta	I saw Mammatus, once in May of 2007, opening up to Acid Mothers Temple, and that’s been awhile, and they were great. I’m certain that they’ve evolved and are a different band by now. So im looking forward to this “KFJC Live From The Pit”live broadcast, and video live stream. I’ve been reading reviews and articles about Mammatus, the word Prog has been thrown in a lot, so I’m excited to see and hear how they’ve evolved. As usual, I’ll keep you posted. The night was fun, Memo was up front working security and keeping me company, and then I ran into Isreal. Of course Oleg was there, I had a great time, I was definitely head banging. stephenhuerta	09/26/2026 Update: Last night’s show definitely kicked ass. Sadly though, it didn’t sell out. Allow me to explain what I think. First, tickets were expensive, in my opinion, with fees a ticket ran$1050.00 pesos, that’s expensive for the Mexican community. Then there was no opening supporting bands, which is odd, because GDL is famous for 3-4 opening bands. I believe that was a turnoff for a lot of people, especially with the price. On the positive side, Oleg (guitar player from Purple Hermits) and I looked around, we saw, maybe 80 people, that’s it. We didn’t mind it, it was up closerr and personal, left side of stage, against the rail.	High On Fire	Sep 27, 2026
