My very first concert was Grand Funk Railroad at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana, I’m guessing in 1973. I don’t see any listing of it. I also saw Electric Light Orchestra at the same venue on March 19, 1977 and again on September 2, 1978. I still have ticket stubs for the two ELO concerts. They aren’t listed in the concert list at the Hirsch either. Just wondering down memory lane.

Looking for details on this concert was how I found this app. I hope someone eventually finds the details somewhere, because I certainly remember the event and the location. I will never forget the drunk woman with one shoe on and a cigarette in her hair screaming “REO!” in a high-pitched howl as she stumbled through the mulch. It’s possible Chicago also played this show, but I am not 100% on that. I only attended Taste twice, and I am not a Chicagoland native, so the actual venue name is unclear to me. Every REO show in the Chicago area in the early 2000s around July 4 doesn’t match.

I recommend checking the date for this. The linked article in the Chicago Tribune does not list REO Speedwagon as performing July 3 nor are there any mentions in any other newspapers of the day

A fitting ending for this band, specifically for Jeff Lynne. Stage set up was fantastic and the sound from where I was sitting was superb!!!

1st balcony center section. Encore was a huge surprise as Robert Fripp and Alice Cooper came out to sing the chorus of “Walk on the Wild Side” - which in the set list here, is listed as mid-show.
